Anderson. You Better Werk.

Oh boy. Oh here we go. Hold my earrings girl, cause I'm bout to lose. my. MIND. Michigan's assistant attorney general is not only the most pitiful loser that you threw a slushi on in high school, he's unfit for any public office. I give him two months before he's caught in a bathroom with a little gay pride all over his mouth. His name is Andrew Shrivell. And it's not just a blog post about UM's openly gay student council president, Chris Armstrong, it's a complete blog ONLY about Chris Armstrong and his "radical homosexual agenda." He monitors his Facebook page, videos and "protests" outside the college student's home, and generally obesseses over the boy. I don't blame him. He's cute. He started the blog in April with a beautifully edited photo (right.) He claims this college student is not fit to hold office for holding homosexual-friendly parties, what Shrivell refers to lovingly as "gay orgies." I think we need to be look at the grown-ass adult in a state government position who uses his "off-time" to promote his own lunacy,  radical Christian agenda, and insecurity of his own sexuality.

If you are curious as to where the Armstrong's "racism" comes into question, it is his recent tapping into a once secret organization at UM known as the Order of Angell, which now publicly posts its roster, which coincidentally boasts members who are female, of color, and even LGBT. Totally sounds like KKK material to me. The group strides to be an unseen force for making positive changes for UM with the help of UM alumni and university officials. Yep, if you are here at UA, you know what it sounds like. Machine anyone? The exception here is they are inclusive. Now while old traditions of this society had some not as politically-correct rituals associated with Native Americans back in 1902, I'd assume it's safe to say with the reforms they have made publicly in the last five years, being apart of this society is no longer a direct connect to racism in the year 2010.

Chris Armstrong, CampusQueer supports you. You are helping pave the way for equality in politics. Stand your ground and we will stand behind you. But we do not promise to not look at your booty while doing so.

Red Ribbon Gala To Benefit HIV/AIDS Organizations

Hey queerlings! This Sunday is a very special event in Birmingham presented by the Magic City Choral Society at the Alys Stephens Center in the Jemison Concert Hall from 6pm - 7:30pm. It is a huge concert that will benefit several HIV/AIDS awareness and service groups including AIDS Alabama, Birmingham AIDS Outreach, West Alabama AIDS Outreach, and UAB's 1917 Clinic. CampusQueer specifically supports WAAO locally, but each of these groups do great work and need our support. This is the information on the FB event that can give you better information than I:

"The Red Ribbon Gala starring Kristi Tingle Higginbotham, Emily Herring, our all-star band, and both choruses of the Magic City Choral Society with Bettina Boateng of NBC 13 as Master of Ceremonies is the first annual concert benefiting AIDS Alabama, Birmingham AIDS Outreach, West Alabama AIDS Outreach, and UAB's 1917 Clinic.

The evening will be full of pop and broadway classics, new and old. Plus, the choruses will debut "TV Land... - A Choral Symphony," our first ever commissioned piece! You'll hear your favorite TV themes from "I Love Lucy" to "Law and Order" mashed up like you've never heard them before – and may never again. It's going to be a great evening, and it's all for an important cause, funding the organizations that fight HIV and AIDS right here in Alabama through local services and around the world through research.

Tickets start at $25.
Patron tickets are $100 and include a catered meet and greet pre-concert reception in the patrons lounge and your choice of seating anywhere in Jemison Concert Hall.

Call 205.975.2787 for tickets today!"
You can RSVP here and learn more about the Magic City Choral Society here. I will be in Birmingham and really hope to make it. Perhaps I will see some of you there! If you can't make this event, there are many, many others for you to be able to contribute. Visit the Resources tab at the top of the page and find the WAAO tab. There is a link to the WAAO FB page to keep you updated on events in Tuscaloosa to benefit HIV/AIDS research. There are some GREAT events coming up including the biggest, baddest HalloQueen bash of them all! More details to come. It's never too early to start becoming proactive. We all make a difference when we work together.

"P" Party

Apparently, the whole idea spawned from just wanting to make peach jello shots. Of course, only gelatinized liquor could have incited this damn class act of trashiness. Now just to clarify, me in the yellow up there, yeah I came as "peed on." Some of the creativity was quite shocking. Just to name a few, we had peacocks, a Post-It, Pringles can handing out actual Pringles, a pharaoh, a present, prostitutes, potheads, plumbers, just "posh," Pikachu, primetime news anchor Anderson Cooper, a pocket gay, and a pizza (and that photo is just too damn trashy for the world wide web.) So glad the gay party scene is getting back into full swing. There's no telling what's to come. A theme party is the thing of my wet dreams. Thanks Mariana and Chi-Chi, our lovely hostesses. So who's next? Can you throw the biggest bash of the semester? Come December, I will be the judge of that.

It Gets Better

I'm sure most of us recall a time in high school where we felt somewhat alone, harrassed for being different, or afraid of what it meant to be homosexual, bisexual, or transgender. I personally experienced it beginning in grade school and onwards. Some people don't believe that and say small children don't know what "gay" is or implies. Well they do recognize something different and use it. I definitely know it only gets worse in high school, during awkward years of puberty mixed with a more common understanding of what homosexuality really is. Gay columnist, Dan Savage, has started a really moving project called "It Gets Better." It's a compilation of videos right on YouTube of queers with lives, families, careers, and futures. It's a big flag hoisted to young teens feeling lost to say, "Hey! Look at me. I've been there. Look where I am now! It. gets. better." You can go to Dan's site and read more about what he has to say for the project and how it can you can gay it forward. As Dan posted, Harvey Milk always said, "You gotta' give 'em hope."

As the mother who sent me this video told me, "My son is my son. His being gay doesn't change that. If anything it makes me MORE appreciative and proud of him." Beautiful words. I know we don't all get to hear that from our mothers. But someone does and that's beautiful. For her son and for all the others teenagers out there wondering if tomorrow is worth it, we have to let them know, "It Gets Better."

You Just Whip That Hair Willow Smith

Well, I mean damn. I don't know what mix of autotune and Keebler elf magic went into making this 10 year old bish sound so good, but I have to admit she's working it. Now trust and believe my little shnukums will not be in a recording studio. She will be too busy swimming laps with Michael Phelps, training to win the gold. I personally cannot wait to see the trainwreck this spawn of Mr. Smith becomes. He thought an army of rogue robots was killer. Psh. This little cunt-in-the-making is gonna walk all over his ass.

And Now Gaga Tells Too.

We Aren't Asking. We Are Telling!

It's about to come full circle queerlings. I can feel it. For too long Don't Ask, Don't Tell has haunted our nation's defense with the fear of being an open servant of our country because of pure silliness. It wasn't a question of, "Well it's not important. No one needs to know so just don't say anything." It quickly became more of, "Don't say it. Don't act it. Don't let us catching you in a situation of it. In fact, just ignore it all together. Or get the hell out." With the recent victory in the NOH8 campaign, it's time for us to take the next step and the repeal of DADT is screaming to happen. The House has already voted to repeal the policy and now we have a solider-in-arms at the Senate - Harry Reid, who is ready to take the Defense Authorization bill to the Senate floor next week.

And as always, Our Lady, Mama Monster is on her white unicorn carrying the flag for Harry Reid. Surely you saw her on the white carpet at the VMA's. Each person flanking her (in that gorgeous piece from Alexander McQueen's final line of his life) was someone who had been dishonorably discharged from the United States military under DADT. Our Lady has always been our biggest supporter, but with Harry Reid marching down to the Senate floor, she has really brought it to the tip of her tongue and made a brilliant stand in the last few weeks.

Now as with everything in politics, I expect to see very much a transverse wave of action as the bill rolls through Senate and hopefully onwards. I think we can expect to see the repeal, but as with anything we've seen in history, just because legislature says so doesn't mean people down the chain will immediately listen and act as warm and inviting as Aunt Peggy Sue. But I feel encouraged by what is possible next week and will stay updated. Follow @HarryReid on Twitter.

And also, a Facebook status from Mister Joshua Burford caught my eye today. I liked it and asked to share:

Vee Emm Ayys!

Slip on down into a nice repose queerlings. Tonight is the prestigious and profound event that captivates us with every touching moment. It's the damn MTV Video Music Awards. Now seeing how as there is no performance from Our Lady, I'm hard-pressed to find a reason to actually see it through. However, with Chelsea Handler hosting I have a revived sense of determination to see this shitshow. Also, the highly anticipated duet between Taylor Swift and Kanye West is set to go on. Personally, I hope Kanye slangs his bottle of Hennessy up in the bitch's face. Yes, I'm still bitter about her upset over Our Lady last year. And the final thing I'm interested in see and a little damp in my lady parts about is a performance from Florence + The Machine. That bitch is fabulous and wonderful and slightly frightening. In a good way. So let's take a looksy-poo at our fine nominees and sort through it together. Predictions will appear highlighted in yellow. My preferences (demands really) will be highlighted in pink. Simple stuff. And if . . . no . . . WHEN Justin Beiber wins anything, I may throw a GHB baby bottle at that collywobble twink. Okay. Moving on again. I will do my best to not vote Our Lady for every situation. But no promises. . .

Well it is lovely to see dance music getting it's own recognition and category. Even if they really sucked it up with the nominee choices. And it seems to be the name of the game this year is "collaboration" with the nominees and the Swift/West duet. Looks like sharing and playing nice are making a comeback. And I for one NOT happy about that. It shall be interesting to see how things play out. I look forward to be pissed about the outcomings. Tweet @CampusQueer about your predictions and follow my live-tweetings for all the dandy excitement. Actually, I'm still looking for somewhere to watch it. I should get on that.

Muchos Grassy-Ass!

I Love a List

Ring courtesy of: Jessica Geisen at Bangle.
And Peacock Hair courtesy of: Kris Garrett at The Brian Avery Salon.

It's recently come to my attention that I love: Lists [a la Chloe Sevigny.] I like to lists things in my head that perhaps irk me, please me, arouse me. I also like things in 3's if you haven't noticed thus far in this little project of mine. But yes I love a list and think we should have some fun with them today. Come list with me for a wrinkle in time and see what mysteries we can unfold.

List 1: Things I Do Not Quite "Get"

> Collegiates and their frisbees. They can just whirl them around for hours. And whatever happened to the hackeysack?
> Dirty sorority girls. If you're only at college to find a husband, why do you look like shit every day? Is that the new sexy?
> Early American colonists. Why'd you have to be so damn mean to those Indians?

List 2: Things I Find Sexy That I Should Not

> Douchebags. You know. The little thin beardy chinstrap, borderline white chocolate-esque, overgelled hair, possibilty of a gat in his waistline.
> Daddies. Yeah I went there.
> Collegiates and their frisbees. They can whirl me around for hours.

List 3: Things I Strongly Support

> West Alabama Aids Outreach. And Aids Alabama in general.
> Individuality. Be you. Always.
> A show on Bravo for CampusQueer. Please?

List 4: Things I Want to Accomplish This Year

> Fully develop the CQ site by 1.1.11.
> Do MORE for CQ. I know we can use this as platform for great good. Plans in my head. Need to make them happen.
> Dance like no one is watching frequently and often.

List 5: Objectives of CampusQueer

> Promote and document the Gay Identity and Community in Tuscaloosa as well as other college campuses.
> Promote a freedom of expression for newcoming gays. Show them they do a have a place.
> Make people think, smile, and be slightly offended [in a good way.]

List 6: Things I Love - And Because I Needed To End in a Multitple of 3

> HotMess nights with my favorite people. If you think I mean you, I do.
> HotMess weekends at the pool with people I respect and admire.
> The smell of Fall. It's coming!
> Grest denim.
> Fresh florals. They really brighten up this boy's day.
> The amazing support from my readers. You truly excite me with the simplest of comments. I never would have imagined this could be something. I hope to continue to bring you bigger and better. CampusQueer is more to me than just my silly little writings. It's my lifestyle now.

If you made it this far, you obviously are avoiding something, bored to tears, or hopefully stalking me. Go do something productive. Tweet me to let me know what you think!
